Effect of therapeutic radioiodine activity on ablation response in differentiated thyroid cancer patients with cut-off serum thyroglobulin levels after 2 weeks of thyroid hormone withdrawal: a retrospective study

چکیده
This retrospective study aimed to investigate whether there was a difference in the success rate of removal residual thyroid tissue patients with same cutoff serum thyroglobulin (Tg) value―measured 2 weeks after hormone withdrawal (THW)―for different radioactive iodine (RAI) activities. We identified 132 papillary cancer who were treated total thyroidectomy and RAI therapy evaluate efficacy three radioactivities I-131: 1,110, 3,700, 5,550 MBq. Serum Tg testing performed 1 week before treatment THW (pre-Tg); pre-Tg level below 10 ng/mL. Stimulated levels measured on day I-131 administration (off-Tg). After 6 months treatment, we compared groups for complete ablation, defined as no uptake diagnostic scan, stimulated <1.0 ng/mL, antibody <100 Ninety-five (72.0%) achieved 57.1% (8/14), 78.2% (68/87), 61.3% (19/31) 1,110 MBq, 3,700 MBq groups, respectively. There significant ablation rates between groups. In multivariate analysis, off-Tg predictor ablation. low radioactivity (1,110 MBq) seemed sufficient The is promising useful initial therapy.

Radioiodine Thyroid Remnant Ablation after Recombinant Human Thyrotropin or Thyroid Hormone Withdrawal in Patients with High-Risk Differentiated Thyroid Cancer
To supplement limited relevant literature, we retrospectively compared ablation and disease outcomes in high-risk differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) patients undergoing radioiodine thyroid remnant ablation aided by recombinant human thyrotropin (rhTSH) versus thyroid hormone withdrawal/withholding (THW). Our cohort was 45 consecutive antithyroglobulin antibody- (TgAb-) negative, T3-T4/N0-N1...
متن کاملSerum thyroglobulin concentrations and whole-body radioiodine scan in follow-up of differentiated thyroid cancer after thyroid ablation.
Measurement of serum thyroglobulin (Tg) concentrations and whole-body radioiodine scan were performed simultaneously during follow-up of 32 patients with differentiated thyroid cancer who had undergone thyroid ablation by operation and radioiodine. Almost all patients in whom serum Tg was undetectable had normal scans. Concentrations exceeding 50 ng/ml were invariably associated with residual o...
متن کاملThyroid hormone replacement one day before 131I therapy in patients with well-differentiated thyroid cancer
Objective: The current study aimed to determine the efficacy of radioiodine-131 (131I) ablation therapy with thyroid hormone replacement one day before 131I administration in patients with well-differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). Methods: This retrospective study included 29 patients who underwent 131I therapies twice for DTC during 6-12 months. Since all the patients obviously had residual l...
متن کاملPredictors of success of the ablative/therapeutic radioiodine (131I) in differentiated thyroid cancer
Introduction:Differentiatedthyroid carcinoma (DTC) constitute approximately 90% of all thyroid tumors with an overall excellent prognosis. However, there is a small group of patients with a more aggressive form of disease, usually associated with certain poor prognostic factors. Using our large database of patients with DTC, the current study aims at identifying some of these f...
متن کاملRadioiodine therapy effects on salivary gland function in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer [Persian]
Salivary gland involvement is one of the radioiodine therapy complications. Salivary gland scintigraphy in quantitative mode can accurately evaluate salivary gland function. Methods: Salivary gland scintigraphy was performed with Tc-99m Pertechnetate, at the time of iodine therapy as a basic study and then 3 weeks and 3 months afterwards. Ejection Fraction (EF) of parotid and submandibula...
